I have an 89 and it 2 was overheating bad. I replaced resevior/radiator hose, thermostat, and head gaskets, and bought new battery. I drove a few blocks and car started stalling then once I came to a stop it shut down completely. I can't get any type of movemnet or noise and all electric is out. I need help with suggests as well.

Ahh, The classic symptoms of a slipped cylinder liner. No real way to tell. It's a process of elimination. You can try doing a CO test on the coolant after it's hot, sometimes it will indicate CO in the coolant. In 10 + years I've never seen a bad head or gasket. Always the block. There is a Co. that re-sleeves these old Buick blocks. I'll try to find the link.

so it was the head gasket and the land rover dealership was somewhat helpful and not that bad priced compared to some indy shops which no one around me would touch the disco head gasket, but few gave me qoutes and then told me to leave it at the dealership so i did. thanks for all your help and info.
