I need to replace the 3-bolt flange on the rear diff. I am having trouble finding the part for sale. does anyone know if you have to take the diff apart to replace this? it's for a 1996 disco.

THanks

Why are you replacing it?
If it is for a leak, no you won't have to pull the 3rd. member unless the pinion gear shaft has a grove warn in it.
Call Bill at Great Basin's Rovers in Salt Lake City, he should be able to help you.

no it's not leaking.  i just purchased the car for a smoking deal, but the dudes vlex coupler went out and the drive shaft ended up on the 101 loop.  when the drive shaft came apart it chewed up the metal on that yoke, so i need to replace it.  i know on a lot of american cars/trucks there is just a bolt in the center of the yoke but i couldn't see it when i was under there yesterday.

You need to have a special tool to pull the center plug that is used to line up flex joint then under that is the nut that comes out.

Is this special tool just a puller that i can rent at the auto part store or is it something the dealership has?
