Im not sure what this button does.... Two   lines down, one across just below and to left of radio.
anybody help me out?

I "assume" you have a Disco 1, So the switch your on about is the Cruise Control enable switch. The "symbol" on it is the same as the road signs in the UK, its a picture of a motorway / highway with a bridge over it, Ie most likely when you would use cruise control

It would be the same symbol as the 3rd switch down here on my Disco 2

that is the cruise control button, Disco I Disco II, both the same. When i first got mine, I thought it kinda looked like a surfboard!
Use it whenever you can and it will helps with the mpg's!!

haha I love little British things like that symbol!
And just to add on, that does not set the Cruise, it just turns it on, you must pull the set button for it to hold your speed.

Thank all of you, the pic helps, and that is the symbol i was asking about.
Now where is the fuse box on this thing?

There is one under the steering wheel, and one under the hood.
To get to the one under the steering wheel turn the two screws ONE time and it will unlock the cover. The fuse box under the hood is on the left hand under a rectagle cover, there is a picture of a Fuse and I beleive it says fuses also.
