I am sitting here watching Magnum P.I., it came in the mail from Netflix today, it is from 1980. Magnum was chasing some bad guys and he was driving a Jeep Wrangler, it had B.F. Goodrich AllTerrain T/A's on it, so my question is, how long have these tires been around?

Yes he is. You know that red Hawaiian shirt that he wears, the one with the parrots on it? I have one just like it, my wife bought it for me when we were dating.

So does anybody know any history about the BFG AllTerrain TA?

Nice I need one of those shirts!

If I remember correctly back when we had Jeeps we put on one of the first versions of the BFG AT on our CJ replacing the GY Tracker AT, but that was early 80's, long long time ago so I could be incorrect

I got my first set of BFG AT in 1986 before they sold to Michelin in 1988.

Though the tread looks the same the tires have changed my last set that I got in Feb 08 are different than the set they replaced that where six years old and the same size number wise 245/75/16.
They are said to be Gen 3 A/T's

They are smaller than the old ones my GPS showed that the last ones at 100 miles on the odometer was 106.5 and the new ones are 104.0.

I call BF Goodrich to find out and no one knew so they will e-mail what they find.

Thank you - Best Dude show in the 80s for sure. Single guy, PI, in Hawaii living in a beach front mansion with a free Ferrari to drive - whats a better story line than that?

The BFG A/T was introduced in 1976.
The BFG M/T came along in 1980.

I have found that its had to find another tire or tyre that goes on and off road as well as the BFG A/T's.
