There''s one thing not mentioned in all the posts I''ve read about leaking air lines, and it''s one I''ve used with some success. It seems the type of ferrule (brass donut) that they used for the compression fitting is engineered for the PVC (plastic) the lines mount to. As a natural result of time and vibration, they tend to weaken and the fittings invariably begin to leak. What I did to overcome this issue is to add a touch of GOOP Plumbers sealant (available at ACE and Home Depot) to the line and ferrule BELOW the fitting. Installed before it dries, it creates a very tough seal against the future problems you WILL have if you do nothing. Just be careful and keep the stuff out of the ends of your hoses!
