Has anybody here ever bought a bad MAF? How delicate are these things? With my old MAF I got a PO734 code with increasing consistantly and very occationally a PO171/PO174. With my new MAF I bought from British Pacific (ERR7171) I get PO171, PO174, PO734 codes consistantly with a PO733 thrown in for extra measure. My crank sensor had also decided to die about 10 miles after replacing the old MAF a couple of weeks ago. The crank sensor is good now, so I decided to try the new MAF again (after swapping back in the old one), but it's just giving even more codes now. Am I just having bad luck or what?

MAF's just don't give out, what are you running for a filter?
So are you getting a code now?

I replaced the paper filter last fall, I think it is a Hastings filter. I've been getting only the PO734 with the old MAF for the last week or so since I got the engine stalling/no start fixed and everything working again. I put the new MAF back in this morning and I have PO733, PO734, PO171, PO174 with it. I'm wondering if they just sent me a bad MAF. I was also surprised that it didn't say Bosch on it. I could put the old one back in again and see what pops up, I'm getting very confused.

Did you buy a brand new MAF or a used one?
Anything that is manufactured can be bad from the factory, you know, second shift on a Friday, or first shift on a Monday kind of thing.

Yeah, that's true. I'll just REALLY feel like I'm throwing parts at it if I buy another new one. I guess I'll give them a call on Monday and see what they can do. I'm still curious if the new (and possibly bad) MAF and crank sensor finally dying could be related somehow. What a coincidence that was.

It looks like they have the manufacturers limited 1 year warranty. I should be in luck.
