I do not know, but the ECU has to talk to the security computer. I guess you will have to talk to a indy shop and see if they can do it.

I found a site that might help.

http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/GEMS/GEMSbyPoole.pdf

I will try the 're-set' options.  driving at diferent speeds etc... with the working (original) ecu before dumping any more money in this truck.  Honestly I am at my wits end and am thinking about e-baying this thing.

The problem with e-bay is now that you have put so much time and money into the trk you will never recup your money.
Do you have relatives who live in a non emission testing area who can put a plate on the trk for you? Peoplw who live in CA and have a non CA car do it all the time.

You need to replace your plug wires. Here is a story with a lesson behind it...I bought my '97 in April of '07, it had 152k and change on the clock. New Denso Iridium plugs and Duralast plug wires. This was before I knew about Magnacor wires.
20k and one year later I developed a mis, well I cant afford the Magnacors yet so went back to AutoZone and returned my Duralast wires under warrenty for a brand new set.
The mis is gone.
One week and less than 50 miles later guess what, the mis is back. Plugs are good, look like brand new.
Aftermarket assbrand plug wires are junk on Rovers, so ditch the Autolite plug wires. If I had know that from the get go I would have sujested that first off, I know that I didnt ask and for that I am sorry, could have saved you alot of money and hassle.

Its ok.  At least I learned alot about these trucks, thanks for all your help btw.  I still have the old wires from the truck, I believe they are the magnacor ones.  They are numbered by cylinder.  I will put those back on and see what happens.  Do you think the crap wires would cause the crap driving and the codes?

Yes crap wires can cause run problems and set off codes. Any number of codes too, everything from O2's to fuel mixture being to rich to a actual mis-fire code.
I dont know why they do, but LR's eat plug wires for lunch, I have never seen it on any other car I have ever worked on or owned.
We had a Allis Chalmers tractor from the '30's and the plug wires on that were over 10 years old, it sat out side in all kinds of weather and that thing ran like a top no matter what you did to it or the weather.
We would park it by the river, hook the water pump to the PTO, fill the gas tank, set the throttle on a 95 degree day and let that thing run for hours at 1500 rpm until it ran out of gas while we filled the irrigation pond, never once did we get a mis from that thing, ever.
Rover are different, thats why we love them.

I sure hope the old plugs work.  I will also be ordering some new ones from britich atlantic (or who ever has the cheapest set).

I have always heard these trucks are pretty tuff.  And I know that if you take care of something right it will last.  I just forgot the part about them being expensive to fix when I bought it, hahaha.

Why put the old spark plugs back in? Just buy your new plug wires and you should be good to go.

Because I have sunk enough already.  I am in the Army and we dont really get payed alot.  I have already gone over budget a little so it will have to wait.  I am pending a move soon and need to save every penny now.  So this might litteraly be months before I get to the plug wires.
