What is the best/advisable idle on a Discovery 1997?  Will lower idle save on gas and engine performance?

There is a specified adjustment for the base idle on your disco, It is 18 to 20 steps as measured when idling at full operating temp. I only know how to adjust this using the dealer supplied testbook equipment. I dont know how to adjust it using other methods!

If your truck has an automatic tranny, your idle should be around 700 to 750 in gear at operating temp with the a/c off.
Leave your idle alone, you won't improve you MPG by lowering it.
What sort of MPG are you getting and what have you done to improve it?

I guess my idle is just normal then cause it is just between the 700-750 mark in gear. Mike, the only thing I do to improve my mpg is make sure that I have the recommender psi in my tires!  Would that be enough or is there anything more I could do to improve my mpg?
Thanks

Start looking at tune related stuff, including plugs, Magnacore wires, crank case flush, an induction cleaning and burn high octane.
