bpak510 -> New to Range Rovers... 2005 HSE (5/28/2008 9:12:44 PM)

Hey guys, I just bought a used 2005 Rang Rover HSE... I love it already!!! However the guy I bought it from didn't teach me much about the truck. Actually, he didn't even have the owners manuals, Ugh! So, here I am, I need your help. First things first. How do I switch from 4 wheel drive to 4 Low? is it on the fly? Do I need to put the truck in neutral? also, same questions for Hill Descent Control. On the fly? first to neutral? lastly, any cool tips for daily driving? like ride control settings, or suspension info? I did buy the extended warranty (wow, expensive) so if anything goes wrong I can get it fixed, right? Also, one last question, during slow speeds the steering wheel has a whine to it as I turn it. But only at slow speeds, is that normal?

Thanks for the help..
I love this site!!!

You can certainly buy a manual on e-bay, but if you simply want to download for FREE, you can get a pdf at:

thanks guys... I tried to download the pdf from the link above but it didnt show anything available. I may just buy a set of manuals like you suggest.

Anything about the whine in the steering wheel? can someone shed some light on this...

Sounds like that extended warranty might come in to play.  I'd take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it.  That whining noise doesn't sound right.

I have an 05 and mine whines at very slow speeds like when parking if i turn the wheel all the way to either side.  I asked 2 different dealers about it and both said it was normal reverb from the powersteering pump.  Also heard some's do the same as they were a mall parking lot.  I have an extended warranty also, so i just wait to see what happens.

I read the OP''s question wrong.  THought he said noises were coming directly from his steering wheel.  Snugg is right, that whine is from the power steering pump working hard to turn the wheels.  It''s louder when the vehicle is parked.
