I recently aquired a 97 Disco (Freebie) and was wondering if there are any basic engine mods I can do that will enhance power such as air filter, exhaust, etc.... I'm mainly familiar with American cars such as Fords and Chevys but I know SQUAT about Land Rovers. It has a V8 so I'm assuming I can do the basic stuf like a K&N filter and free flowing mufflers and the like. Any suggestions? Brands? Also, any info on suspension lifts are welcome. Ideally, I'd like to lift it enough to put 33" tires on there.

There are several ways to improve performance, though it depends what you want to improve. One is to fit a larger intercooler, Allard in the uk are a good starting point for that, also getting a new chip if yours has one fitted. K&N filters are also a good start as you know. With regard to lift, Bilston shocks seem to be a good place to start.
One is to fit a larger intercooler
Unless I'm missing something major, my Discovery doesn't have a turbo or supercharger so it shouldn't have an intercooler.? I think I'll just start with free flowing mufflers and a K&N Filter for starters.
