1998 Range Rover SE 4.0. As I was driving down the highway my front drive shaft fell out and almost came through the floor board but when it fell out my transmission went into d2. Now when I try to put my car in Park, it is in Reverse and the computer tells me its in reverse and my mirrors go down. So for instance when I have it in Reverse it is really in Neural and when I put it in neutral it is in D3 and ect. Does anyone know how to fix this or will it fix itself once I replace that front drive shaft? And for anyone that lives near the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel hill area do not take your car to the Flying Circus.

Also does anyone know if you can buy the whole assembly of a front drive shaft/propeller with the u-joints and the pieces that attach to the u-joints?

You better take a good hard look underneath for other damage. Sounds as if you caught the selector and or the linkage. There could also be damage to the trany itself. You may need a shop for this one. Thanks for the tip about the flying circus!!

Your best bet for a new drive shaft is, http://www.4xshaft.com/index.html. Their drive shaft''s are much stronger then Rover and less money, apx. $320.
