I have a 1999 Land Rover Discovery II that I have owned for the past 8 mos..Since I had Sirius Satellite radio before in my other SUV, I decided to go ahead and put a FM modulator (Sportster) on the Rover while keeping the HK. The only problem is, I drive alot , and when I drive into an urban area such as Nashville, I have to keep changing frequencies. I decided tonight to go ahead and search for another satellite ready unit, but the problem is....no one such as Best Buy, has a sirius ready unit for the Rover ( I want to bypass the cd changer and have one available on the unit). Now, when it comes to installing radios, I am illiterate! I have come to the conclusion that from my previous research, that I will have to buy a special wiring harness to hook one up. Another question is, will I still have the use of the factory amp? Can anyone offer me some suggestions and is their anyone I can go to who would install it since I will have to have some modifications? I am also guessing that I will loose the use of the steering controls for the unit...is that correct? My only other option is to go to the land Rover dealer and hopefully buy one since I heard that Land Rover has partnered with Sirius to provide units that are satellite ready for $400.00. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
