My 2003 RR has 49,000 miles. Does anyone have any experience with post-50k maintenance issues? I have to decide whether to buy the extended warranty (for $4000) or bag it and hope for the best. Any comments are appreciated.

Popular wisdom says YES, get the warranty. Search this forum and Rangerovers.net on the topic and you won't find a single post that recommends going without an extended warranty. I think you can do better than $4000. When I purchased mt '05 new, I got a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty for just over $3200. Prices of warranties ARE negotiable, so shop around. Mine is from PRIMUSCare, and is an exclusionary warranty, which means only the items listed on the warranty ARE NOT cover, which amounts to upholstery, speakers, and trim pieces. Good luck.

My 03 RR warranty has expired and I'm looking for a 3rd party warranty.  I've been researching for weeks and it's very frustrating becuase there are so many shady businesses out there.  Please, if you have a 3rd party warranty and have had a good or bad experience with them, please post here.

Avoid Great Lakes. Hourly labor is only $75 an hour and the customer service is not good. I do like what I am hearing from Dave Marcus at CarSmith, who I have being emailing with about my next RR. His email is dave@carsmithmotors.com. He is recommended by RangeRovers.net recently.

You should always buy an extended warranty file still in factory warranty, otherwise you limit your self on what few companys will write a policy. It only takes an hour or two to research a company and usually most people back and have Rover write it anyway.
