wow, I seem to have the worst luck around... ANYWAY, as I was driving home from work today, the switch on my steering wheel to control my radio''s volume, etc. just snapped. I didn''t put any pressure on it, nor did it get caught on my sleeve, my radio just went haywire! Before I knew what was going on, the volume went up ALL THE WAY. Then, the radio station changed and it kept switching from "tape" to "FM" to "Scan." Everytime It went back to the FM, it was also scanning through the stations superfast. All the while, I was driving. I tried turning the radio off via the main dashboard control panel as well, and It seems as if the whole thing is disabled. (meaning, NONE of the buttons work) I called LR North America, as well as the closest dealership which happens to be 150+ miles away. (go figure) Neither of them helped whatsoever. In-fact they were quite RUDE! So I called National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) and filed a safety complaint. If anyone knows what I can do, I''d appreciate it. The radio will not turn off, nor lower its volume, or even eject my tape adapter from the tape player. the volume is too much to drive with. My speakers are going to blow! Will pulling a fuse get it to stop??

pulling a fuse will turn the radio off... however it sounds like you have a short in the wiring for the steering wheel switches, when these are in use, itll cancell out the actual radio controls, take it somewhere and have then pull your airbag off and check the wiring in there... if they dont find anything disconnect the switches, connector is behind the airbag, and see if you can controll it from the radio then

Ok I got the volume to turn down after messing with it. And thanks for explaining why the radio controls won''t work. It makes complete sense. I''ll try to find someone that will help me out with this, but the fact of the matter is that no one in this stupid city is willing to look at land rovers. Everyone I''ve taken it to says that they are too expensive and too confusing. Its pretty moderately ridiculous. Do you think I could do it myself somehow? My dads friend is going to take a look at things, and he''s helped me in the past, but removing the airbag is another story.

takin the airbag off isnt bad... just make sure to disconnect the batt and wait at least 10 minutes before messing with it. 2 t30s hold it on, need to turn the wheel to get them out, once its off everythings right there
