OK,I am new to the LR family with my LR3 HSE and cannot stand the 19''s that came with it. I understand this is more of an offroad family rather than a show car type of place. With that in mind, I woudl like to have my cake and eat it too. A bit of bling, with some more aggressive/capable tires.I see plenty of All Terrain tires in 20 inch, and I am looking at some 20 x 8.5 wheels. What is the size tire I can get away with? I am finding some of the Nitto terra grapplers and Toyo''s in the 275/55R20 range.I appreciate any help on this. Thanks,John

The tire you can use will depend completely on the offset of the wheels you choose and will vary from wheel to wheel, depending on the offset. Land Rover Lifestyle Magazine printed out a nice article on tire/wheel combos for Land Rovers in their April 2007 called Wheel and Tire buyer''s guide. Very informative. Just keep in mind that large diameter wheels with low profile tires make the vehicle''s ride much harsher. However, on the flip side of that, there is an advantage to choosing good all terrain tires even with large wheels. Get tires that offer "wheel protectors" so you can keep those shiny new expensive wheels from getting curb rash!

Thanks, I''ll try and see if I can find that article.

Also, the offset for the rims I was looking at are 20. I don''t think that is in a range of fitment for the LR3? If not, I guess I am off to look for different rims.

Again, thank you for the reply and if anyone else has any good advice on the subject I appreciate the help.

Thanks,
John

Almost any offset will work with the right tire combination. The problem with non factory offsets is that a tire that would and should normally fit the LR3 will rub with the wrong offset. Good luck with the bling on the LR3. They do look good with low pro tires on them. I''m an off roader and I love my super plush ride with taller side walls, so it would not work for me at all but I admitt they do look good.

You want to look at wheels with a high offset, the OEM is +45.

And you can use the following to compare the OEM set to what you want to do:
