Well, it might actually be an upgrade from what i have now. a 91 xj sport (jeep cherokee). but i know i want something nicer in the end. maybe this would give me something in between to drive while i save and look for a nicer discovery. it couldn''t hurt right? and for $1500??? i could sale the jeep for that! Spike, you said that the door handles are easy to fix, how easy? and say i do have to buy parts for the interior, they seem to be a bit pricey, is there anywhere that i could get cheaper interior parts? I can''t imagine junk yards having an abundance of land rovers.

CandiMan has a really nice post on how to fix the door handles. If you clink his screen name his posts will come up. www.roverlandparts.com for used Rover parts. www.atlanticbritish.com for new parts. Now remember that you MUST use premium gas in a LR. If you read the "high octane" post youi will understand why. But yes, for $1500 I would buy it, get it road worthy, sell your Jeep and break even.

ORIGINAL: AK Rover 97Disco- Do you have any pics of your 97 you are trying to sell. I have a buddy that is a mechanic and may be interested in it. He was ready to buy my 97 for twice that price but I decided to keep it until I find a suitable replacement. Where are you located? He lives in North Dakota but I think he would consoder driving it from where you are if the price is right. I was thinking the same thing. Along to keeping abreast with local LR''s for sale on Craigslist, I''m also curious to see that your 97 looks like.

I can''''t imagine junk yards having an abundance of land rovers. That''s one of the challenges you will face, finding parts for cheap. Simple everyday common parts like a switch, brackets, p/s pump, brake rotor, sun visor, floor mats, anything and everything, you can expect to pay more for it just because it''s a LR. As you stated, finding a LR in your local salvage yard is unlikey. Unless you live in the NE or NW part of the country where I''ve notice a lot of the online salvage yards are located. By all means go for it, it''s a robust solid tuck. Just understand you will be stepping into a whole different league compared to your Cherokee
