So I figured you guys were all do for a laugh this morning.  Two days ago my "Service Engine Soon" light came on.  I was bummed.  Only having the car for a little over two weeks, I started to think about everything that could be wrong.  I had someone look at it.  They could not find anything so they suggested I take it to Auto Zone and get the code read.  By now I am freaking out.  As of now I have to change the rims and tires, as well as replace the front suspension and brake rotors at some point.  Moolah that will take a while for me to save up for.

I managed to take some time off work and drive the 10 miles or so to Auto Zone and had to wait since it was a zoo.  I managed after 20 minutes to get the attention of the manager.
He came out and plugged in the reader thing.

Auto Zone Manager: Uh oh
Annie: What?  What''s wrong?
Auto Zone Manager: I think you need to take it to a dealer
Annie: What?  Why? WHAT''S WRONG?!?!?
Auto Zone Manager: This looks out of my scope here.  How far is the closest LR dealer?
Annie: I''d have to go to Scottsdale. What does it say?  I knew this would happen.  Just my luck I find the ONE truck I want, haven''t even had it a month, and now it craps out on me.  This is BS!
Auto Zone Manager: Your gas cap is loose.
Annie: Wha?  Gas cap?
Auto Zone Manager: Yep, gas cap.  Make sure it clicks next time.

I feel for ya sister!!!
Three (3) clicks when you put the gas cap on. One, Two, Three. 1,2,3.
At least you had a guy looking at it who had a sense of humor.
That is a great story, made me giggle. Just remember that just because the CEL is on not everything is a emergancy.

Annie has 18" wheels and wants 16" (mine I hope).  Not sure about the front suspension though.

That''s funny. I hate to admit that I would have done the same thing the manager did. Guess we have similar sick senses of humor.

Where is Jerome, AZ? I lived in Phoenix (actually Mesa) for a few months but never heard of Jerome. You should definitely take your Rover over Four Peaks. It''s a mountain just outside Phoenix. It has a good main road that most any vehicle can make it over and a lot of side trails if you feel adventurous. That was one of the routes we took going over to Roosevelt Lake to camp.

Wheels definitely gotta go...and I''d like to do shocks and springs to beef it up a bit for off-road.  They seem really slouchy in front though...seriously.  Maybe it''s just me.  Those are the major things I want to do in the near future...of course it''s quite a bit of money.

For AK Rover...Jerome is up near Sedona in the Verde Valley.  Freakin kick ass town.  You should make a trip up here and go off-road..there are some gnarly old mine trails!!!

I''m there. My girlfriend told me I need to go check out Sedona anyway. Sounds like a good reason.
