I just lost my key fob today to my 2008 LR2. Does anyone know how much a replacement costs at the dealer? I live in Illinois. Wondering if I can buy it online for cheaper? Stupid question but if I get a replacement can all the locks be re-programmed? My fear is that someone will find it and drive off with the car. Thanks!

Did you not get two when you bought the car? I''m pretty sure replacements, when I asked over a year ago, are in the $300-400. You''ll most likely have to call for roadd side, have the truck towed in to a dealer and have them order and program a new Fob.

Yup, I got two. So, now I am down to one. But I want an extra just in case. Called Roadside last night. Your correct they would tow to dealer but service was closed.

dont buy one online if you can even find it. the keys are vin coded, will only work with the car theyre made for. and old keys can be disabled, so dont worry about that once you get the new key programed. programing the new key will automaticly disable the one that you no longer have, just as if you wanted a third, you would need to give them the two you already had or they wouldnt work anymore.
