My 1997 Discovery came back from a service with the interior lights stuck on. I have had to disconnect the lights for now to stop the battery going flat. The alarm system now also emits 2 loud beeps upon locking, wheras it only flashed the indicators before, and it also continues to beep every few minutes when locked and parked. Anyone got any idea's???

Thanks very much, I suspected the beeping was connected to the interior lights problem. I checked all the door closure switches, including rear door & bonnet - WD40 and a fiddle didn't change anything. The car system obviously thinks a door is insecure - any idea where to start? This only happened whilst the garage had it in for a 12,000 service, which also included re-programming a new remote locking device. They are trying to say it's nothing they did!! But it was fine before it went in. I won't name the garage yet as I'm still trying to enlist their cooperation in finding a fix. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated though, as I have to leave the vehicle unlocked due to it beeping every few minutes...

Thanks for replying Lighting 90. Yes, I located all the sensors & gave them a spray of WD40 and a rattle - nothing obvious. Same problem occurs with key & spare remote, although the garage also fiddled with this whilst trying to sort out the problem. As I said, it only happened whilst in for service so I'm convinced they did something. When I complained they fiddled for a while, then showed me another 97 Disco. that also beeped when they locked it. I realise now that the windows were open at the time!!) I'd like to locate the sensor wire input to the alarm control box and check it out though. Anyone know where to look? You mention another forum - I tried logging into **** a few times, but they have never sent me a password despite promising to do so within 2 minutes... Do you know of any other useful sites?

The interior lights used to stay on till the ignition was turned on, or on exiting the car, until it was locked. Now they just remain on all the time! Someone suggested the following, but I think the car would need plugging into the computer for this: "When you go into the security setting of the disco and navigate your way to interior light, you have a 'fully featured' interior light. It gives a similar noise as when you leave a door open etc. It just needs to be disabled. It might have been done by mistake. But that's why your light doesn't go off." Anyone identify with this? Does it need the Land Rover diagnostic computer? The people that caused it are Land Rover agents, so hopefully I could convince them to take a look when I know what I'm talking about!
