Can anyone tell me if I can import a defender from South America? Are there legal restrictions?

Thanks Russ

I am also very interested in importing a defender. I know that I would have to get it alterred once in the U.S. so that it would pass inspections but are you allowed to import them and if so does anyone have any tips on doing so? Any help would be greatly apprectiated. Thanks.

To import a Defender is has to be 25 years old.
The Defenders NAS came in 1993 for the D110 only 500 U.S
25 for Canada.
The D90 was 1994 - 95 and 97.
That is why the Defenders demand the big bucks.
I have driven the last 110 to came in to North America # 25 shipped to
Canada it is one tough truck as was the D 90 I drove.
If I was going across Africa a D 110 is what I would get its a tank
handles and uses fuel like one, V8 gas here.
I would get the Diesel D-90 and keep it in the U.K. until it was 25 years old
and then bring it in.
Good luck finding a left hand drive.

We should have a new N.A.S. Defender in a few years.

I really would like a turbo diesel defender 90 or 110. If you use it for off-road/ranch purposes can you import one without modifying it? And can you import a newer one, say a 2007?

I am just trying to figure out these import rules and any possible loop holes!
