I just bought a 96 Discovery and overall I am extremely pleased with it. One problem I am having is that when I use the remote to look the doors, it sets off the security system, horn, flashing lights, the whole lot. Why is it doing this? I just want to lock my doors, not set off the alarm system. Everything is factory, no aftermarket alarm or anything.

Anyone have an idea of why it's happening?

Thanks.

Hello, congrats on your purchase. First of all, are all of the doors locking? If one of the actuators is hanging up it will cause this dilemma. Also check the rear door and make sure its locking. Thanks, Rusty Owens HR Motorcars

Thanks Rusty.

I will look closely at this tonight. I have noticed that using the key to lock the doors causes the locks to go down further thatn they do when using the remote. I know that doesn't really make any sense, but neither does the lock button setting off the alarm.

Regards,
Eric

Welcome to the forum, the common problem is the bonnet, the push button becomes damaged and stopss working or even the wire is caught during servicing and just pulled out.

Also check the rear boot door, again it is easily missed as the culprit..
