I would like to change my spark plug wires myself, but the distributor is located behind the engine. Has anyone done this? I would love directions. My Cyl 4 wire is arcing and I would like to do it this weekend. Please help. Thank you in advance.

No distributor. Coil pack. Need to remove the upper intake plenum to change. Not for the faint of heart. Very doable if you are mechanically inclined.

Thanks dude, the dealer quoted my $952.00 to replace, I nearly keeled over. This after $110.00 to diagnose. (The tech sprayed the wires with a garden hose).

WOW, $952.00. I thought the dealer I called was crazy, $700.00, but they won't install the Magnecors I bought, only OEM. I think I'll be doing it myself.

Be careful removing the intake manifold. I am getting written instructions and I will post them when I do. Also you should get a replacement gasket for the upper air intake manifold right away...about $40.00. I am also replacing my ignition coil pack with one I bought on EBAY. I still cant believe the morons buried this stuff behind the engine, under the manifold.
The dealer would hit you with all this stuff anyway, and he would get about $2,000 for it.

Just out of curiosity, why are you replacing your spark plug wires. Check engine light / arcing ?

Here were the symptoms. Check engine light blinking. Multiple misfire. Cyl 4, 7 misfire. Loss of horsepower, rough engine running. I took it to the dealer and they hosed me for $110.00 to literally hose my wires. They said that one of my wires was arcing and wanted $952.00 to replace all 8. I decided to get it out of the dealer immediately. I checked online and realized that the 4 and 7 leads are right next to each other on the same coil pack. Intuitively, the coil pack is shot. This is a $700.00 part at the dealer. So they were going to nail me for another $700.00 + install for the coilpack as soon as they got the intake manifold off and I was trapped. So I went to EBAY and bought a used but tested coil pack for $100.00 + $15.00 Shipping. On another website I purchased new plug wires and a upper intake manifold gasket for about $95.00 including shipping. Now I have to figure out how to pull it all apart and snap it all together. It is not brain surgery, so I want to do it myself. With the $1,500.00 I save I will take the family to Florida in the Landy.

Boy I'm happy I have a DI, I had no idea that the
DII's set up was like that.
I would put wire wrap on the plug wires they may
last longer.
Good luck.

I just did mine yesterday. I got champion 3322 plug (OEM) from Napa. 2.50 each.
Easy job!
I can't believe dealer charge that much for simple, 30 min. to an hour do it yourself job.
