I was originally going to get the BFGoodrich T/A KO but decided on the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor in 255/70/16  instead.  I havent driven the truck yet since Im still in Iraq, but the wife says they ride pretty good.  Ill let you know how it goes on the trail when I get home in October.

Hey Jantiz,

I'm looking at putting the exact same size of Silent Armors on my Rover 4.6HSE. 

Could you post a pic so I can see how the 18's look on your truck?

I seem to be a little picture posting challenged. But Ozzy68 recently bought silent armours for his black LR3 and then went playing in the snow with them. OK Jantiz,

Just bought a set of Wrangler SA 265 60 18 for the LR3.  They better last!  If not I'm comin after you!!!!  Seriously though, the reviews I've read about the Wrangler HPs were awful.  I wonder why LR decided on such a poor OE choice?

HP's are worse than whatever you may have read so far. Yes, they are THAT bad. I have no clue what LR was thinking when they chose that tire. Hey, let us know what you think of your new tires after you've had a chance to wear them in a little bit. About lasting, Mine have been on my LR3 almost a year and half at this point. I have around 25k miles on them. They still ride smooth and quiet. There's no noticeable change in ride quality. There's plenty of tread left in them. I intend to hold Goodyear to their 50k mile warranty on them. So far it would appear that they will surpass that easily. Also good to note, I've had many nails pulled out of them in the past year ( lots of road trash where I work ) None have gone through the kevlar layer so far. Zero flats :)

Anyone out there have an opinion on Goodyears Fortera Silent Armor for a LR3.  I need a replacement for the OEM GY HP's (junk), but I don't think I need the all-terrain tread of the GY Wrangler Silent Armor. Any road hum would be annoying, albeit manly.   My off-road driving consists of wet grass at the once-a-year horse show, pathetic, I know, and a little Washington DC slushy snow on the highway a dozen times a year.  I have read the tirerack.com forum up and down and the Goodyear Fortera Silent Armor and Michelins Cross Terrain have made the short list.

I'm concerned about the Fortera being too soft and mushy a ride, as well as a decrease in mpg's.  This pig already likes to drink it down! Thoughts?

One of the points were Wrangler Silent Armours shine is in the fact that you can not hear them at all. So even if you don't need the off road tread, you won't be able to tell it is there at all untill you need the extra grip. My advice is buy them even if you NEVER go off roading.

1. they are super quiet
2. they look good on the vehicle
3. they ride super smooth
4. no vibration, no hum
5. 50,000 mile wear warranty
6. in the rare instance that you do need the extra traction, it will be there.

Need anymore reasons?

What pressure are you keeping your tires at?  I'm in Ft Lauderdale where it is warmer.  You think 38 or 39 lbs is about right?
