I have that all too familiar clicking noise when making sharp turns. It seems to be coming from both sides also. A quick call to a garage that services land rovers tells me that replacing the CV joint can amount to about $800 apiece....the part itself is $470. Does this sound right or should I be getting a second opinion?

Rob, the price is not too out of line- maybe just a little high. Is this a dealer or indy shop. Let me Know- Rusty Owens HR Motorcars, Indy rover specialists.

it's a private garage. i'm not sure where his source for the parts is though. are the cv joints dealer items only?

Rob, the joints are dealer. Does the shop service rovers regularly- make sure they have done this job before. Thanks- Rusty Owens,HR Motorcars- Indy Rover specialists.

Right on Joe. LR has A totally different set up than others. The shop needs to know the correct procedure.

Rob I'm parting out a 1998 Rover. I'll sell you the whole front axle with good joints for $550.00
The truck had 92,000 miles on it.
